• APCP Top Master player Mr. Tim (Dog Man) Irving takes top prize in the City of Lakeland Checkers Tournament which was held on 8/11/2012.  The Dog Man won first place in the Top Masters division at the City of  Lakeland Checkers Tournament held in Lakeland Florida.
  

• Congratulations  Mr. Irving. You are well deserving of this prize as you had to contend  with the likes of Mr. Frank (Youngblood) Forrest Jr., who settled for second place.
  

• Mr. Obe (Little Tom) Thomas, who battled for third place, and Mr. Sandy (C-Note) Troutman, who came in fifth place.
  

• I don't recall who came in forth place. I also do not have other details at this time.  Hope to get back with more.
  

• Also among those present were Mr. Jackie Carr, Mr. Larry Lindsey, Mr. Odell Bright, Mr. Marshall Brooks, (Actually I think it was Mr. Brooks that took forth place in the Top Masters), Michael Jordan of South Carolina, Of course Mr. Fred Shurn (Who had to leave early to catch his flight), and a host of others.
  

• I count about 45-50 heads at one time. All in all it was a wonderful time of checkers and fellowship with old friends and new alike.
  

• I must extend a big Thanks to Mr. Wayne (Bowlegs) Broderick on hosting this wonderful event in the city of Lakeland. This CFCA (Central Florida Checker Association) tournament was formerly held in Orlando.
  

• Congratulations to all the participants, and to the staff of the City of Lakeland Community Center.  You guys are the greatest, hope to see you again.
